Carl arl Paladino has a strong stand on improving the New York eduction system. He believes that a strong education sytem is important to ensure that New York remain a State of competition in which the next generation is successeds in world leading achievements. In order to keep New York's education standing strong, Paladino plans to extend the school year, as well as school hours. By extending these school hours, he plans to encourage foreign language, science and math curriculums, as well as increasing global studying in order to compete in the global economy. Due to Paladino's intrest in charter schools, he plans to lift the cap of charter schools to 500 schools, which will allow New York to receive $750 million in Federal Race to The top Funds. To ensure definite education in bad neighborhoods, Paladino will create greater amounts of charter schools in the worst urban school districts. He plans to help these children in bad areas, as well as others, buy lowering class sizes to reach excellence."A solid education system helps local business recruit the best possible people to New York." Paladino has shown that his idea of charter schools slowly taking over public schools in New York can lead to greater success for future generation.
I agree with Paladino's plan to help New York's education rate because these charter schools will allow for a way to help New York relief itself of its debt. By doing this, not only will it improve the economy, but it will also lead to an increase in the number of schools. especially schools in bad neighborhoods that would lead to greater success for future generations.
However Andrew Cuomo has some good views on education as well. He agrees with the charter school system but wants to incorportate special education programs. Cuomo agrees with Race to the Top and supports it. He wants to set up required standards for both the students and the teachers."However, it is the first step, not the last, if New York is going to win the real 'race to the top' and become a leader in education reform."(Cuomo). Cuomo wants to reform education by forcing charter schools to accept poor, homeless, special-ed, and non american students.
