ISSUES

" Paladino tried justifying the comments over the weekend, by saying that he wasn't being homophobic,he was just being Catholic. "

Paladino thinks gays is disgusting? who does he think he is. Paladino has made many hurtful and disturbing remarks about the gay community. Stating how the "national gay parade" is corrupting the minds of our children and that they should never be exposed to that. as faith might have it, Paladino has a gay nephew!! He spoke out against his uncle and removed himself from his campaign.

Andrew Cuomo is a supporter of gay rights. He is actually sponsored by the gay community. He believes that having equal rights for gays to wed is not "disgusting: its fair.

Healthcare

Carl Paladino:
-As the Governor of New York, Carl Paladino plans to cut $20 billion from the Medicaid budget in the first months of being in office. New Yorkers suffer the highest taxes in America and this is because we spend more on Medicaid than any other state. "New York spends more on Medicaid than any other state and almost as much as California and Texas combined." As a matter a fact, the second state that has high taxes - California, spends about half as on Medicaid as New York does. His plan for cutting $20 billion in Medicaid benefits will prevent waste, fraud and abuse in the system. Due to this New York State taxpayers will save $10 billion in the first year, making 30-40% country tax cuts definitely possible.

Andrew Cuomo:
-Andrew Cuomo has worked to reform the healthcare reimbursement system. He wants to end conflicts of interest and create fair reimbursement rates. "New York must find a way to bring its Medicaid costs more in line with that of other states if we are to control overall State spending." New York State spends 69% more on healthcare than the national average and any other country. He wants a vital restructuring of Medicaid that will achieve long term regulations. Cuomo wants to work hand in hand with the federal government, Obama's administration, to create a unified program. His plan is for this program to improve the care of those entitled to Medicare and Medicaid.

Jobs

Carl Paladino
Carl Paladino stands on not capping taxes but instead, cutting taxes as much as he can. He plans to cut Medicaid in New York down to California levels, which will lead to a 40%, or more, cut in taxes."New Yorkers want their taxes cut, not capped." Paladino plans to cut taxes by cutting programs such as medicare, medicaid, and social security that the government provides. Although this may be an effective way to cut taxes and provide more jobs, many Americans may suffer because of this However for us to receive these benefits requires for somebody to pay in to the system. Since many are unemployed there is not enough taxes to pay for these benefits. His first priority will be to cut spending by 20% in the first year of his administration.

Andrew Cuomo
Andrew Cuomo wants to create as many jobs as he can by using tax credits. Cuomo said that he will provide money for training and education. Cuomo feels that spending money will eventually lead to NY to gain money and get out of this economic crisis. “Aiding business owners, retaining and creating employment opportunities, and investing in higher education are a central part of my plan to revitalize our economy. Cuomo believes that by creating jobs it will lead NY to eternal prosperity.

I feel that Carl Paladino presents a better plan although it will harm many but it will be fair to everyone. Many people have not been paying taxes or paying in to our government but still receive government help however those who do pay and provide for the poor receive nothing and still have to work their whole lives. I feel it is unfair for those who worked very hard and received a great education and make six figures a year do not have to pay for those that did nothing and dropped out of school. Everyone has an equal opportunity to reach the pursuit of happiness but not everyone takes that opportunity. Other people should not be forced to pay for their mistakes.

JOBS

1. "Get New Yorkers back to work immediately, through a “Jobs Now” tax credit of up to $3,000 for businesses that hire new workers who have been unemployed for at least sixty days."  - http://www.andrewcuomo.com/nyworks

Andrew Cuomo's plan to get NewYorkers back to work is to create a JOBS NOW tax to give businesses the money to hire newyorkers who havent had a job for at LEAST 60 days. Even though when New Yorkers hear taxes they cringe, its a reasonable solution to a huge epidemic.

Paladino wants to completely cut taxes not cap them. He wants New Yorkers to stop paying so much taxes and we should have a sense of relief.

"I will do this in my first budget. Andrew won't even come close; he'll still be trying to figure out a way to unscrew his gutless cap." - paladino

i believe andrew cuomos plan is more effective, he actually gives many options and strategies he has to get americans back to work again. it seems as though all paladino does is trash Cuomo and doesn't really ever make a point.

Governor's Issues- HealthCare

Carl Paladino believes that our health care system is the most expensive one in the nation , and that Obamacare has some  "unconstituonal provisions".  It would benefit some states yet hurt others. If he was the governor he would "join in unison with the ten-plus of states that will file suit against the federal government to stop Obamacare." He would cut the New York Medicaid to California levels.

Andrew Cuomo supports Obamacare because insurance to cover everyone would prove to be beneficial.

I chose healthcare because it seems like a controversial issue going on right now. I believe that health care should cover poor people since they shouldn't struggle with sicknesses or problems.

Education

Carl Paladino has a very interesting perspective on the education system of New York. He wants to make some changes so that the percentage of kids not graduating would be become much lower. He believes schools that are producing really poor results should be funded by government yet by private companies. That way the results would increase because more attention would be focused on reforming the education.  ''Carl will work for charter schools for the poorest of our urban students as an alterative to dysfunctional schools of today.''He wants to make longer school hours, and extend math , science and foreign language programs.

Andrew Cuomo supports charter schools yet he's a democrat so he's going for the vote of the labor union. If private schools hire their own teachers than many teachers from the former public school probably wont be able to keep the job. If a public school is doing poorly he will take control of the Board of Ed.

Carl Paladino seems like a better choice because I believe charter schools will be more beneficial than people failing in regular public schools. If the private businesses take control than it would provide more control towards failing students.

EDUCATION

Carl arl Paladino has a strong stand on improving the New York eduction system. He believes that a strong education sytem is important to ensure that New York remain a State of competition in which the next generation is successeds in world leading achievements. In order to keep New York's education standing strong, Paladino plans to extend the school year, as well as school hours. By extending these school hours, he plans to encourage foreign language, science and math curriculums, as well as increasing global studying in order to compete in the global economy. Due to Paladino's intrest in charter schools, he  plans to lift the cap of charter schools to 500 schools, which will allow New York to receive $750 million in Federal Race to The top Funds. To ensure definite education in bad neighborhoods, Paladino will create greater amounts of charter schools in the worst urban school districts. He plans to help these children in bad areas, as well as others, buy lowering class sizes to reach excellence."A solid education system helps local business recruit the best possible people to New York." Paladino has shown that his idea of charter schools slowly taking over public schools in New York can lead to greater success for future generation.

I agree with Paladino's plan to help New York's education rate because these charter schools will allow for a way to help New York relief itself of its debt. By doing this, not only will it improve the economy, but it will also lead to an increase in the number of schools. especially schools in bad neighborhoods that would lead to greater success for future generations.

However Andrew Cuomo has some good views on education as well. He agrees with the charter school system but wants to incorportate special education programs. Cuomo agrees with Race to the Top and supports it. He wants to set up required standards for both the students and the teachers."However, it is the first step, not the last, if New York is going to win the real 'race to the top' and become a leader in education reform."(Cuomo). Cuomo wants to reform education by forcing charter schools to accept poor, homeless, special-ed, and non american students.

EDUCATION

" Peter Murphy, policy director at the state's Charter Association, said he thought Cuomo's plan strikes the right note. He even blogged about it. " - http://www.cityhallnews.com/newyork/article-1602-cuomo-consideration-an-education-plan-that-encourages-charter-growth-funding-cuts.html

Andrew Cuomo's plan for education is to make charter schools as equal as public schools. Charter schools are private and may do anything with the money they receive, yet Cuomo is forcing all charter schools to except the homeless, special ed, and non-English speakers. He wants fairness and wants to reform the public and charter school systems. I like this plan very much and it is a very fair decision.

The statistics of Charter schools is well-known for its high performance students. Yet people don't stop to think that maybe this is because of the exclusive selection they pick to attend their schools. if these programs are so "great" then they must be capable of teaching children who are foreign or homeless as well.

EDUCATION

Carl Paladino : Carl Paladino has a very hands-on approach to the school systems on New York State. He wants to turn the Public Schools that are doing poorly into charter schools, which are run by private corporations and still paid for by the city. Moreover, he wants to take control over the regents department and make sure that there are more kids passing the regents and making sure that they are doing they're jobs. What is so great about this idea is that he wants to get rid of the law that protects tenured teachers. If a teacher is not doing exactly what they are supposed, then they Union cannot protect them from being fired.

Andrew Cuomo: Andrew Cuomo has very similar views to Paladino, except he says that we shouldn't automatically close down all of the public schools, but we should try and fix them instead. He wants to reform both charter schools and public schools. Because charter schools do not accept the poor and the non speaking english students.

Jobs

1. Andrew Cuomo is all about the creation of jobs by the government.
"We have to be all about the creation of jobs, jobs, jobs." He wants to cut taxes for new businesses , lessen energy costs , get businesses much needed capital , and improve workers compensation. His focus on creating more jobs with government programs - infrastructure. He wants to protect small businesses as well.

"My first priority will be to cut spending by twenty percent in the first year of my administration. That will allow for a tax cut of ten percent during the same first half year. Those tax cuts will benefit every New Yorker in every area of the state including the poor and working class. The cuts will also help fuel the economic boom we need to save our State from insolvency. " Paladino wants to take direct action in cutting taxes not "cap" around it as Cuomo seems to want to do. He's all about cutting taxes, and in return more jobs would be created.

2. I believe Andrew Cuomo actually has a better plan because creating government programs for the people is an idea which will go a long way rather than cutting taxes which will just result in more budget cuts or other programs cut.

Alina Aleshko.

JOBS

1.Paladino states that we should cut taxes all together instead of "capping" it like Cuomo says. "Of course I think we should cap taxes - the way I think you need to walk before you run. But New York needs to be running, not walking; we need to cut, not just cap (Paladino). He wants to take the fast way into the recovery of our country's economic state. If we cut taxes, then owners of business's would be able to spend money on new products and ultimately make more money. Cuomo wants the government to create more jobs and paying their workers so they can pay the taxes to raise the economy. "We have to be all about the creation of jobs, jobs, jobs"(Cuomo).

2. Candidate Paladino presents a better plan because every person should be responsible for themselves. Creating jobs for others is a waste of money when we can be putting the money to something that will benefit us in the long run. It is like survival of the fittest; the government should not have to provide work for people who are lazy to find a job themselves.

Carl Paladino 10/18/2010

I agree mostly with Carl Paladino's views on government. I especially agree with him that all people no matter what income should be taxed equally. Also republicans support clean coal and natural gas which is good for our environment. They oppose energy taxes which is beneficial for those who cant afford their energy bills .However by taxing energy can improve our environment because the higher the tax will be the less people would want to waste energy so they do not have to pay more. The tax equality is on of the most important issues i feel that a governor has to face. Paladino thinks that everyone no matter rich or poor should have to pay the same percentage of taxes as everyone else.

Brian Grif

Carl Paladino 10/18/10.

I would choose Carl Paladino for the 2010 election because I'd rather the state take control of the MTA system  than to raise the taxes for the rich. There are many rich people who have to work long hours for their pay ; there shouldn't be a reason for them to pay more than all the rest of the people. Everyone should be taxed equally regardless of social class. That is Paladino's stance on taxers , and I fully support him.

Alina Aleshko.

Carl Paladino 10/18/10

For the upcoming 2010 election i would cast my vote for Carl Paladino because he stands for equality for all no matter the financial state of each family. I believe that everyone should be treated equally. He says that everyone should pay the same amount of taxes no matter how much they make, and i fully support that because if you work really hard in school and make over 25,000 a year, you should not have to pay more taxes than someone who did not work as hard as you did and has to pay less than you, and steal your hard working pay from you.

VICTORIA PODLUBNY

My Vote 10/18/10

In my opinion, Andrew Cuomo should be elected governor. The only reason I would vote for Andrew Cuomo is because he is a democrat. Since democrats are more for the wants of the people, my vote goes to him.
